"So you think you can Mayor?"

Coalition presents Mayor's debate on social issues, Oct. 7

OTTAWA - A coalition of community groups is injecting social issues into
the election with an evening

of debate for leading Mayoral candidates.

"So You Think You Can Mayor" will tackle questions on recreation,
housing, child care and affordable

transit. The evening is hosted by Kathleen Petty, host of Ottawa Morning
on CBC Radio One, 91.5

FM.

WHAT: "So You Think You Can Mayor" social issues debate

WHO: Presented by the Coalition to Move Ottawa Forward

WHERE: The Bronson Centre, Auditorium, 211 Bronson Ave.

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, 7:30 PM

The live debate is just one way the Coalition is engaging Mayoral
hopefuls on social issues. The group has also launched
www.soyouthinkyoucanmayor.com, an interactive website where the public
can comment and vote on candidates' positions. The public can also use
the site to submit questions on social issues they'd like to ask the
candidates.

While the Coalition can't accommodate all the Mayoral hopefuls at the
debate, it welcomes all to respond to its questionnaire and submit their
positions to be posted at soyouthinkyoucanmayor.com.

Incumbent Mayor Larry O'Brien has not confirmed his participation on
Oct. 7, but contenders Jim Watson and Clive Doucet both have. The fourth
spot will be decided by public opinion polls in the coming days.

The Coalition to Move Ottawa Forward represents around 100 respected
community groups and social service organizations that collectively
serve around 150,000 Ottawans.

The Coalition spans the social issue spectrum and carries active
representation from The Alliance to End Homelessness, The City for All
Women Initiative, The Coalition of Community Health & Resource Centres,
Local Agencies Serving Immigrants, The Ottawa Coalition of Children &
Youth, The Ottawa Social Housing Network, and People for a Better
Ottawa.
