 United Way Ottawa 2012-2013 Call for Proposals 

Services to Help Agencies Prepare

The Call for Proposals will be launched on September 1, 2011 for the funding cycle starting April 2012.  Information about the Focus Areas and Priority Goals can be found on the Funding Opportunities and Information <http://www.unitedwayottawa.ca/English/Agency%20Resources/Current%20Funding%20Opportunities/index.php>  page of United Way Ottawa’s web site (www.unitedwayottawa.ca <http://www.unitedwayottawa.ca> ).

United Way Ottawa offers a number of services designed to help organizations prepare for our open Call for Proposal (CFP) in all three of United Way Ottawa’s Focus Areas:  Turning Lives Around, Growing Up Great and Belonging to Community plus the Priority Goal of Agency Capacity Building.  

We invite all interested non-profit organizations to participate in these upcoming opportunities.

Proposal Writing Workshops

Proposal writing is an essential skill for any non-profit organization seeking the support of funders.  Although this workshop will be geared specifically to United Way’s proposal requirements, you will learn tips and techniques for writing effective proposals in general, enabling your organization to explore other funding opportunities as well.    

The workshops will include:

·         A brief overview of United Way’s Focus Areas and Priority Goals;

·         An outline of  standard proposal content; 

·         Hands-on proposal writing practice.

Priority Goal Information Plus Agency Portal Training Sessions

Hosted by United Way Ottawa staff, each session will help you to understand the program requirements of a specific Priority Goal within one of the Focus Areas.  In addition to a detailed presentation on the Priority Goal, you will learn about our new, more user-friendly agency portal and the CFP process in general.

Agency Portal Training

To better assist agencies, United Way has introduced a new, more user-friendly agency portal with this Call for Proposals. We recognize that some agencies may not be able to participate in the Priority Goal Information Plus Agency Portal Training Sessions on the scheduled dates and some agencies may want to understand how to use this new software before participating in their Information Sessions. These training sessions, focused solely on the new Portal, are for these agencies.

Centraide Ottawa offre de nombreux services ayant été conçus pour aider les organismes à se préparer pour notre appel de propositions ouvert dans les trois domaines ciblés de Centraide Ottawa, soit Nouveaux départs, Mieux grandir et Talents en action. L’appel de propositions porte également sur l’objectif prioritaire Renforcement des capacités des organismes. 

Nous encouragons tous les organimses à but non lucratif intéressés à participer aux activités suivantes : 

Ateliers de rédaction de propositions

La rédaction de propositions est une compétence essentielle pour tout organisme à but non lucratif à la recherche de l’appui de bailleurs de fonds. Quoique cet atelier se concentre précisément sur les exigences des propositions à l’intention de Centraide Ottawa, vous apprendrez des techniques et prendrez connaissance d’astuces qui seront bénéfiques à la rédaction de propositions en général. Votre organisme pourra ainsi considérer d’autres possibilités de financement.  

Les ateliers comprendront :

·         un bref survol des objectifs prioritaires pour lesquels nous sollicitons des propositions;

·         une présentation des normes du contenu de la proposition;

·         une expérience pratique de la rédaction de propositions.

Séances de formation sur les objectifs prioritaires et sur le portail des organismes

Organisé par le personnel de Centraide Ottawa, chaque séance vous permettra de mieux comprendre les exigences d’un programme en ce qui a trait à un objectif prioritaire précis d’un des quatre domaines ciblés. En plus de vous fournir une présentation détaillée sur l’objectif prioritaire en question, vous aurez l’occasion d’en apprendre davantage sur notre nouveau portail des organismes convivial et sur le processus de l’appel de propositions en général. 

Formation sur le portail des organismes 

Afin d’aider les organismes, Centraide a mis en œuvre un nouveau portail des organismes pour cet appel de propositions qui devrait s’avérer plus convivial. Nous savons qu’il n’est pas toujours possible pour les organismes de participer aux séances de formation sur les objectifs prioritaires et sur le portail des organismes aux dates fixées. Nous avons mis sur pied des séances qui traitent uniquement du portail pour les organismes pour ceux qui veulent comprendre comment fonctionne ce nouveau logiciel avant de participer aux séances d’information.
