On Thursday this week the Official Opposition will be tabling a new bill in Parliament for a National Housing Strategy. MP Morin invites you to sign and return the attached letter, signalling your endorsement for a law that will guarantee all Canadians access to safe, secure, accessible and affordable housing.

The Alliance to End Homelessness in Ottawa has sent an endorsement letter and has been invited to speak at the press conference announcing the bill.

En tant que porte-parole de l'opposition officielle en matière de logement, je suis fière de vous annoncer que le projet de loi visant à assurer aux Canadiens un logement sûr, adéquat, accessible et abordable est maintenant fin prêt! 

Si elle est adoptée, cette loi obligerait le ministre responsable de la Société canadienne d'hypothèques et de logement (SCHL) à travailler en collaboration avec les ministres provinciaux responsables du logement, les représentants des municipalités, les collectivités autochtones, les fournisseurs de logements du secteur à but non lucratif et du secteur privé ainsi qu'avec les représentants des organisations de la société civile afin d'établir une stratégie nationale en matière de logement.

J'annoncerai officiellement le dépôt de ce projet de loi tant attendu en présence du porte-parole adjoint en matière de logement, Andrew Cash (Davenport), lors d'un point de presse le 16 février prochain à 10 h 30 à Ottawa.

En tant qu'acteur du logement, je souhaite vous inviter à participer à l'événement. Vous aurez ainsi la chance de démontrer votre appui et de prononcer quelques mots si vous le désirez.

Si vous ne pouvez vous déplacer, je vous invite à signer la lettre ci-jointe et à me la retourner afin de signifier officiellement votre appui au projet de loi visant à assurer à tous les Canadiens un logement sûr, adéquat, accessible et abordable. 

Plus de gens endosseront le projet de loi, plus nous aurons de chance de voir le Canada adopter un plan national en logement!

As the Housing Critic for the Official Opposition, I am proud to present a bill that will ensure safe, secure, accessible, and affordable housing for all Canadians.

If made law, this bill would require the minister responsible for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) to work with provincial ministers, municipal representatives, First Nations communities, non-profit housing groups, the private sector, and civil society organizations to finally create a Canadian national housing strategy.

I will be formally announcing the tabling of this bill with Deputy Critic for Housing, Andrew Cash (Davenport), at a press conference in Ottawa on February 16, at 10:30 am.

I invite you to join us in calling on the government to support this bill and implement a national housing strategy.
