Bruce House welcomes our new fund development officer

Bruce House--the community-based agency that provides housing and
compassionate care for people in Ottawa living with HIV/AIDS--has a new fund
development and community engagement officer who's out to strengthen the
agency's ties to the community.

Jill Woodley joined the Bruce House team last January. Earlier in her
career, Woodley worked with Volunteer Ottawa and the Osgoode Youth
Association. Her professional background includes communications, event
planning, program development and implementation, and fund raising.

"As the executive director of the Osgoode Youth Association, I faced a whole
series of community development and engagement challenges," explains
Woodley. "Advancing the profile of a small organization in rural Ottawa
required coming up with innovative strategies and taking a truly creative
approach to public engagement. I'm looking forward to applying that
expertise on behalf of Bruce House, an organization whose work is of vital
importance to people living with HIV/AIDS, and to their families and
friends."

Woodley's full-time position is a first for Bruce House. Prior to Woodley's
appointment, long-time fund raising consultant Martha Scott served the
agency in a similar capacity on a part-time basis.

"The decision to engage a full-time fund development and community
engagement specialist marks something of a turning point in the history of
Bruce House," says board chair Sandi Bonini. "We've been around for more
than 20 years. The challenges facing our clients today are far different
from the ones clients faced 20 years ago. But, they're no less complex. And,
the demand for our services continues to grow. That's why the board decided
to put additional resources to support the key areas of community engagement
and fund development.”

We are confident that Jill’s wealth of experience and skills will greatly
contribute to strengthening our resources and capacity to respond to the
current and future housing and care needs of people living with HIV/AIDS in
our community.
