Sujet:	Le projet « Engagement du secteur privé » (trad. libre de Private Sector Engagement) de l'initiative Youthworks s'intéresse au rôle que peut jouer le secteur privé dans l'élaboration de solutions à l'itinérance chez les jeunes. 

Description du sujet

L'organisme Chez Toit désirait en savoir davantage sur les façons d'impliquer le secteur privé dans l'élaboration de solutions à l'itinérance chez les jeunes en mettant sur pied le projet « Engagement du secteur privé », dans le cadre de l'initiative Youthworks. Au cours de ce téléforum, il sera question des résultats préliminaires du projet, tirés de plus de 120 entrevues menées auprès d'employés d'agences communautaires, de partenaires dans le secteur privé, et de jeunes de partout au Canada. Ce projet permettra de faire ressortir les avantages de l'implication du secteur privé avec les agences communautaires et l'importance d'offrir des possibilités d'emploi aux jeunes. Il mettra également en évidence les principales stratégies pour favoriser l'implication du secteur privé, de même que les défis importants qui s'y rattachent. 

Qui fera l'exposé? 

Carolann Barr, directrice exécutive de Chez Toit, a 20 ans d'expérience en matière de haute direction et d'élaboration de programme auprès de populations diversifiées et marginalisées. Elle a travaillé dans divers milieux offrant des services de santé et services sociaux tant auprès des jeunes que des adultes. Elle s'est essentiellement concentrée sur les questions de pauvreté, d'itinérance, de santé mentale et de toxicomanie. Elle a voué sa carrière à la réduction des barrières et au développement d'initiatives pour lutter contre l'itinérance.   

Amanda Noble, gestionnaire, Recherche et initiatives communautaires, Chez Toit, est aspirante au doctorat à l'Université York où elle étudie les modèles d'hébergement pour les jeunes sans-abri. Elle dirige actuellement une recherche pancanadienne sur les façons d'impliquer davantage le secteur privé. Elle a occupé divers postes de recherche et de service de première ligne au sein d'organismes qui lutte contre l'itinérance et la pauvreté, telles que le Canadian Homelessness Research Network, Campagne 2000, le Covenant House Toronto et le Women's Habitat de Etobicoke. Amanda détient une maîtrise en travail social avec une spécialisation sur les questions d'itinérance et de pauvreté.

Raising the Roof's Youthworks Private Sector Engagement Project

Topic:	Youthworks Private Sector Engagement project speaks to how the private sector can play a role in addressing homelessness among youth.


Topic description 

Raising the Roof has sought to learn more about ways to increase private sector involvement in solutions to youth homelessness through the Private Sector Engagement Project, one component of the Youthworks initiative. This Teleforum will discuss preliminary findings from this project, which is based on interviews with over 120 community agency staff, their private sector partners, and youth participants from across Canada. It will highlight the benefits of the private sector providing employment opportunities and working with community agencies, key strategies for engaging the private sector, and major challenges in doing so.

Who will be presenting? 

Carolann Barr, Executive Director of Raising the Roof, has 20 years of progressive senior leadership and program development with diverse and marginalized populations.  Her work has been conducted in a variety of health and social services environments with both youth and adults, with a strong focus on poverty, homelessness, mental health and addiction issues.  She has devoted her career to help reduce barriers and create initiatives to combat homelessness.  

Amanda Noble, Manager of Research and Community Initiatives at Raising the Roof, is a PhD Candidate at York University where she is studying housing models for homeless youth. She currently leads the pan-Canadian research on engaging the private sector. She has worked in a variety of academic and front-line positions at homelessness and anti-poverty organizations including the Canadian Homelessness Research Network, Campaign 2000, Covenant House Toronto, and Women's Habitat of Etobicoke. Amanda holds a Master's of Social Work specializing in issues pertaining to homelessness and poverty.
