Mental Health Week -- Arts Café - Thursday, May 10, 2012

In honour of Mental Health Week 2012, the Canadian Mental Health Association, Ottawa Branch and Ottawa Salus are hosting an Arts Café, on Thursday, May 10, 2012, 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Ottawa City Hall, Jean Piggott Hall. The event is free and all are welcome.

The event will feature musicians, poets, story-tellers, photographers and visual artists who have a personal experience of mental illness. Passages, a photovoice exhibit, features photos and narratives by 7 photographers who live in supportive housing who explored such themes as home, journeys, self-identity and mental illness.

Visual arts and poetry will be presented by Moods Expressed, an arts group that focuses on finding exhibitions and venues as well as publishing and selling opportunities for practicing artists living with mental illness. It is open to anyone who self-identifies as a practicing artist in any discipline who is living with mental illness. For more information, please visit http://www.moodsexpressed.com.
