October 17th is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty - a very appropriate day to begin the discussion of a bill that will go a long way to getting/keeping people out of poverty. I'm sure that's a coincidence but you might want to include it in your messages to politicians.

Linda.

Hello listserv members –

Bill C-400, the national housing strategy bill, is going to be debated in Parliament on October 17th; this is the first debate opportunity since a majority government was elected. If you haven’t done it yet, please take a few minutes to print the attached petition.

Sign it yourself, then ask 13 of your colleagues, friends and family members to help too. It’s in English & French.

Aim to mail it in by next Wednesday. There is no stamp required to mail to The House of Commons at 210 Justice, K1A 0A6. It can also be faxed to fax to 613-992-1815.

Organizations still have time to sign the endorsement letter; many have called for a national housing strategy for some time and this is your opportunity to re-enforce a long-held commitment via this replacement bill.

Thank you for staying committed!
