Community Developer May-September

Gloucester Housing Corporation is a non-profit community business offering
affordable and market rent housing located in the Gloucester area of Ottawa.
The Community Developer will be working with colleagues and tenants during
our permanent Community Developer’s leave of absence, to improve the quality
of life in Gloucester Housing communities.

The successful candidate will:

§  Work in partnership with tenants, community partners, and others to build
relationships and promote safe and healthy communities.

§  Identify and promote individual and community assets, and opportunities.

§  Develop community initiatives identified by tenants and encourage
individual aspiration and confidence.

§  Ensure current programs are well managed; this will include supervising
our Summer Blast program.

§  Build relationships between GHC communities and the wider neighbourhood.

§  Co-ordinate programs that encourage greening initiatives, particularly
recycling.

§  Encourage community participation in our activities.

§   

We are looking for an individual who has:

§  Experience of working in a community housing setting.

§  Presentation and group work skills

§  Excellent organization skills and ability to manage time effectively and
to set priorities.

§  Bilingualism (French/English) preferred.

§  Ability to coordinate and implement the delivery of specific programs
within the community

§  Problem solving skills, ability to make decisions, conflict resolution,
and critical thinking skills.

§  Salary commensurate with experience. Hours vary and this position
includes regular evening work.
