[homeles_ot-l] Change at the Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa

Good morning everyone,

 

I'm back from vacation and will respond to waiting emails within the next
few days. Thanks for your patience!

 

You'll have noticed the ATEH Executive Director's job posting when our Chair
Dan Sabourin sent it out August 6th. This change is happening now because my
husband and I are moving back to Toronto by next summer to make it easier
for us to help with family responsibilities there; my "job" till then will
be getting our Ottawa home reno'd and ready for sale then setting up a new
one. The Alliance Board plans to have someone new in place sometime this
September. You'll see emails from me many times before that.

 

As you might imagine this will be quite a change for me having worked as the
Alliance's sole staff since 2004, acting first as the coordinator then
becoming the first Executive Director in October of 2011 after incorporation
as a non-profit. Back in 2004 the Alliance started to release its annual
Report Cards on Ending Homelessness in Ottawa and to offer its first annual
Homelessness Research Forum. Since then both have become the Alliance's
signature public events in Ottawa and have definitely contributed to the
effectiveness of all of our strategic advocacy efforts. Over time these have
given the Alliance and ending homelessness considerable credibility in the
community and with stakeholders including the media and the three orders of
government. 

 

It truly has been a great honour and a pleasure to work with everyone in the
Alliance. Many of you have been supporters since it began in 1995 and have
made wonderful contributions to make the Alliance the strong organization
that it is in the efforts to end homelessness. Part of me is sad to be
leaving but at the same time I feel a great confidence that working
collaboratively together in the Alliance has and will continue to make an
important difference in efforts to end homelessness. I'll definitely be
taking what we've all learned together into whatever my next position in
Toronto might be.
