Hi folks,

1a) Well here it is! This is the CfP for the $50M-over-6-years-spread-across-the-province Local Poverty Reduction Fund. Note that the deadline is June 10th.
When you try to open the fillable form at Service Ontario, it may not work - several people had this problem with the previous round. If that happens, try the second attachment below called 'Full Application Form' - you may have to double-click for it to open. If that doesn't work, let me know - I've sent a request to the PRSO to provide a more accessible version.
A group of community agencies, organizations, funders and such got together at the end of April to discuss how best to respond to this and at least two collaborative Expressions of Interest (EoI) have gone in as a result of that conversation. One of those was on youth employment and the other on the Community Food Hub - if you want to connect with them, let me know and I'll pass it on. I understand that there were several smaller requests as well from Ottawa. Several of us were at a conference the day after the EoI was due and were told by Deb Matthews, the provincial minister in charge of poverty reduction, that over 400 applications were received from across Ontario.
It was NOT necessary to submit an EoI in order to be able to apply in this round - the advantage of the EoI process was that they would give you feedback on your idea before the final application stage.
1b) Very few people in Ottawa are on the Poverty Reduction Strategy Office's email list to receive info from them - I have spoken to them about this and they've asked me to forward the names of anyone who wants to be added. Many of you will get their info through my email list but you may want to get it directly. Please let me know if you want your name/email address included in the list I'm sending them.

2) The Ottawa Poverty Reduction Network is meeting next Wednesday from 1 to 4 at the Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre, 120-225 Donald Street. The first substantive item on the agenda will be a discussion of the national Poverty Reduction Summit that happened here last week. There was a good-sized contingent of Ottawa folks there and we want to follow up before it fades away.
We will also be discussing the Local PR Fund and the applications that are going in from Ottawa - projects have to be collaborative efforts and it would be good for everyone to know what's going forward.

One last point - had a pool been organized around when the Local Fund RfP would come out, I would have been close-but-no-cigar. I had speculated that it would come out on the 19th, the day after the long weekend, which would mean you lose the time on the weekend to get started. They are, however, cleverer than that  and sent it at 4:35 on the Friday before the long weekend which means they can say it went out on Friday and it's hardly their fault if you scooted out at 4:30 (or earlier). This also allows them to say that the return time is 4 days longer than if it had been sent the day most people will receive it, i.e. the 19th. Foiled again!!
Hope to see you on the 20th - let me know either way if you will be attending.
Thanks,
Linda.  “The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”

   ----- Forwarded Message -----
Dear Colleagues, Ontario is now inviting community organizations from across the province to respond to a Call for Proposals for the Local Poverty Reduction Fund. We want to thank everyone who submitted an Expression of Interest to the fund.  We have received a significant response and are currently reviewing those submissions on a first come, first served basis, with the goal of getting a response to you within 10 business days. Our aim is to provide you with feedback as quickly as possible, so that you have ample opportunity to strengthen your formal application to the fund before the deadline of June 10, 2015. We want to remind you that submitting an Expression of Interest is not a prerequisite to making a formal application, so we encourage all eligible organizations to apply. To help support the application process, please find attached the news release announcing the Call for Proposals. You can find additional information on our website athttp://www.ontario.ca/government/local-poverty-reduction-fund.
