Help Develop Canada's National Housing Strategy

Over the next year, the Canadian government will be conducting
consultations to develop Canada's first-ever National Housing Strategy.

This is exciting news!

Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario (ACTO) called for a National Housing
Strategy in our Right to Housing Charter challenge. Alongside the Right to
Housing Coalition, we have pushed the government to develop a
comprehensive strategy to address the housing needs of all Canadians.

*But more needs to be done. We need our collective voices heard.*

We want to ensure that grassroots groups and individuals with lived
experience of homelessness and precarious housing are an integral part of
the consultation process. The national housing strategy must be developed
through a rights-based approach where the rights of our most marginalized
communities are protected.

How can we ensure the consultation process is open and inclusive?

ACTO and the Right to Housing Coalition have developed a proposal

what a national housing strategy consultation should look like. This proposal

based on a successful process used to develop Canada's Mental Health
Strategy.

On June 27 and 28 the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Ministers are meeting
in Victoria, B.C., to discuss the consultation process.

We are asking you to take the following actions *by June 26, 2016*:

   1. *Endorse *our national housing strategy consultation proposal by sending
