Ottawa Police Services Board and Ottawa Police Service conduct Public Opinion Research on Policing Services

(Ottawa) – The Ottawa Police Services Board (OPSB) and the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) are seeking public input on policing services through a variety of methods this summer. Specifically, we will solicit residents’ perceptions on safety, crime and disorder, community priorities, and police performance.

“Throughout the month of July, a random sampling of over 17,000 Ottawa households will be invited by mail to complete the 2018 research survey online,” said Chief Charles Bordeleau.

The Ottawa Police Service Board values the views of all Ottawa residents and welcomes those who do not receive an invitation by mail to participate in the survey to provide input in a survey posted on the OPS website<https://www.ottawapolice.ca/en/news-and-community/public-opinion-survey.asp> and OPSB website<http://ottawapoliceboard.ca/opsb-cspo/>. **New Deadline  extended to August 6, 2018.

“The Public Opinion Research survey will ask residents for their opinions on the level of crime in their neighbourhoods, and their concerns and feedback on services provided by the OPS,” added Chief Bordeleau. “The results of the research will help to improve the quality of service and ensure the needs of Ottawa residents are addressed.”

The research information gathered in July will assist the OPSB and OPS in identifying public concerns and priorities for the upcoming 2019-2021 Business Plan.

La Commission de services policiers d’Ottawa et le Service de police d'Ottawa réalisent un sondage de recherche sur l'opinion publique face aux services policiers
Ottawa – Cet été, la Commission de services policiers d’Ottawa (CSPO) et le Service de police d'Ottawa (SPO) solliciteront de plusieurs façons l'avis du public sur les services de police. En particulier, nous demanderons aux résidents de faire part de leurs perceptions vis-à-vis la sûreté, la criminalité et le désordre, les priorités de la collectivité et le rendement de la police.
« Durant tout le mois de juillet, un échantillonnage aléatoire de plus de 17 000 foyers d'Ottawa sera invité par la poste à répondre en ligne au sondage de recherche 2018, » a indiqué le chef Charles Bordeleau.
La Commission de services policiers d’Ottawa apprécie le point de vue de tous les résidents d’Ottawa et convie ceux qui n'auront pas reçu d’invitation par la poste à participer au sondage en donnant leur avis dans le cadre d'un sondage se trouvant sur le site web du SPO<https://www.ottawapolice.ca/fr/news-and-community/public-opinion-survey.asp> et sur celui de la CSPO<http://ottawapoliceboard.ca/opsb-cspo/fr>.  la date limite du sondage d'opinion publique a été repoussée au 6 août 2018.
« Le sondage de recherche sur l'opinion publique questionnera les résidents sur leurs opinions portant sur le niveau de criminalité dans leur quartier, ainsi que sur leurs intérêts et leurs commentaires sur les services offerts par le SPO, » a ajouté le chef Bordeleau. « Les résultats de l'étude contribueront à améliorer la qualité du service et à faire en sorte que les besoins des résidents d'Ottawa soient abordés. »
