Sweet Tooth - Fundraising Event
Rainbow Brick Road

is an Ottawa-based private refugee sponsorship group that is committed to
raising funds and providing multifaceted support in resettling LGBTQ
refugee couples from the Middle East to Canada.

For their biggest event yet, they've partnered with Bass Camp North
to transform Babylon Nightclub into a candy wonderland, featuring drag
performances and queer-identified DJs, decor, and food vendors. All
proceeds from Sweet Tooth will be directly donated to Rainbow Brick Road in
support of the sponsorship process.

*The Big Sit*

Warrior Yoga

a not for profit organization providing free yoga to communities in need of
healing. They have worked with many local partners to support vulnerable
youth, newcomers and other community members. Warrior Yoga is inviting you
to join their community at The Big Sit, a mass meditation taking over
Confederation park in Ottawa, Ontario.

Warrior Yoga will guide you through a meditation taught by Alex Ure to
connect to the power of community. This event is free, but donations of any
size are welcome. 100% of donations will go to Warrior Yoga.

Here are two awesome projects that need YOUR help to come to life:

*CBC Diversity Project*
CBC Ottawa is producing a story on diversity. As an immigrant to Canada,
Barbara d’Oro is excited to participate in this project and wants to share
your story! The idea of the project is to show how newcomer families have
introduced typically Canadian elements into their lives, while at the same
time are preserving traditions from their own cultures.  If you are
interested in participating, please connect with Barbara at

*Migration Narratives*
Migration Narratives is a project by Jason Machinski with a goal of putting
a face and voice to contemporary migration through photographic portraits,
audio interviews and research on the benefits of migration. He believes
that listening to other’s stories, and sharing your own, can lead to mutual
understanding, friendship and peace. The portrait series will be
photographed on film using an antique 8x10 view camera and participants
will be provided with the prints if requested, at no charge. All images and
audio will be published in an ebook, and a showing of the work will
hopefully take place at a local gallery next year. If you or anyone you
