The long-term forecast for wildfires in northwestern Ontario show that they will likely continue burning into the fall or until enough precipitation is received to put them out. This means that smoke from these wildfires may continue to be blown into Ottawa on an intermittent basis depending on atmospheric conditions and that air quality may fluctuate for the coming weeks and possibly into the fall. Please continue to use the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) for health messages for the “at risk” population and the general population.
