[Alliance To End Homelessness Ottawa]

The Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa is now seeking volunteers for the
Empathy Project.

The project is an experiential learning exercise written and facilitated by
people with lived experience of homelessness. Each event simulates the
housing and homelessness system as it is, offering participants a glimpse
into the labyrinth of intakes, referrals, waitlists, and barriers that
stand in the way of core needs such as housing, food, childcare, and
employment. The Empathy Project has been a vital tool in our advocacy
efforts.

The University of Ottawa School of Medicine has brought the Empathy Project
into its curriculum, and we are now planning four events (two French and
two English) to be held from September 6th to September 10th at the Smyth
Road campus. We would appreciate it if you shared this information with
your networks, particularly (but not exclusively) bilingual potential
volunteers. Volunteers represent the system, standing in the place of
service providers, and/or assist Alliance staff with event management.

L'Alliance pour mettre fin à l'itinérance à Ottawa est à la recherche de
bénévoles pour le projet Empathie.

Le projet est un exercice d'apprentissage expérientiel écrit et animé par
des personnes ayant vécu l'itinérance. Chaque événement simulé le système
de logement et d'itinérance tel qu'il est ; offrant aux participants un
aperçu du labyrinthe des entrées, des renvois, des listes d'attente et des
obstacles qui se dressent sur le chemin des besoins essentiels tels que le
logement, la nourriture, les services de garde d'enfants et l'emploi. Le
projet Empathie a été un outil essentiel dans nos efforts de plaidoyer.

L'École de médecine de l'Université d'Ottawa a intégré le projet Empathie
dans son programme d'études et nous planifions actuellement quatre
événements (deux en français et deux en anglais) qui se tiendront du 6 au
10 septembre sur le campus de Smyth Road. Nous apprécierions que cette
information soit communiquée à vos réseaux, en particulier (mais pas
exclusivement) aux bénévoles potentiels bilingues. Les bénévoles
représentent le système, en se substituant aux prestataires de services,
et/ou en aidant le personnel de l'Alliance à gérer l'événement.
