Hello!

We are conducting a study titled “The (In)Visibility of Services: Mapping Homelessness Services in Ontario” and are looking for organizations to assist us in recruiting participants for a 2-hour focus group in Ottawa. We hope to ask participants about the services they access (beyond your organization), where they are, and how they evaluate them (depending on the services they offer, etc.). This will include group activities and discussions with multiple facilitators. Our research team includes a research assistant with lived experience, an assistant professor, and a graduate student – all of us will be running the focus group. We will take notes, but all information will be de-identified. All participants will be compensated with $25 cash, and we will bring refreshments and snacks for participants.

We are hoping to conduct these focus groups during the week of October 21-28. If you’d be willing to offer a space to conduct such a focus group, we will send over a recruitment document you can share with those using your services and staff, and work with you to find a time that works best for you and your organization.

The results of this study will be shared widely, and we hope to share our mapping following the focus groups with service providers to increase the visibility of the services in the homelessness delivery system.
