Ending Homelessness: A Housing-First Solution to Toronto’s Encampments<https://stmichaelsfoundation.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=8bd40429b5f5a8232ee04f104&id=438fc3640b&e=d443090f63>

Homelessness is not inevitable—it's a crisis we can solve. Yet across Canada, the number of people experiencing homelessness is rising at an alarming rate. In the past decade alone, the national count has nearly doubled to almost 70,000 people, with more than 17,000 people sleeping outdoors each night. Cities across the country are taking extraordinary measures to address this issue—ranging from forced encampment evictions to emergency declarations. It’s time to shift the conversation—from managing homelessness to ending it.

Join us for a discussion on one of the most urgent health and human rights issues of our time. Our keynote speaker, Tessa Blaikie Whitecloud, the Premier’s Senior Advisor on Ending Chronic Homelessness in the Province of Manitoba, will share key insights from Manitoba’s bold new strategy to end chronic homelessness by 2031. Following her keynote, a panel of experts will discuss how Toronto can garner local support for a housing-first approach to help people transition from encampments to supportive housing.
