Hello!

If you could please share this to your listserve I'd appreciate it.

Join your host and lecturer for the evening, Dr. Sharanjit Kaur Sandhra, as she counts down the 'Top 5 Artefacts of the Panjab Empire You Never Knew Existed.' This inaugural event, as part of the 'For The Culture' series is for people invested in learning about the history, heritage, and culture of Punjabis, and the South Asian community. It is a place for community of all ages to gather, to learn, and to see knowledge disseminated in unique, creative, and humorous ways.

Too often, especially in academic spaces, we are not afforded the opportunity to learn our own histories creatively, in relatable ways, and in ways led by our own. This is your chance to take part in something exciting, something invigorating, something that reminds us of how, where, and in what ways we belong. There will be jokes, there will be desi pop culture references, there will be learning and joy. You won't regret it.

The lecture also features an exhibit from the Panjab Digital Library, a beautiful collaboration as they launch their new brand, website, and established Canadian presence.

All Are Welcome - Appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks provided.

Thanks!

Sharanjit (sharn) Kaur Sandhra (she/her), PhD
Sessional Instructor
Department of History
University of the Fraser Valley
Long before Canada was formed through colonial systems, the Stó:lō (people of the river) occupied the land on which UFV is located. They lived historically, and continue to live in the Fraser Valley and lower Fraser Canyon of British Columbia speaking Halq'eméylem, also known as the upriver dialect. As a Sikh woman, I am dedicated to honouring those pasts, presents and futures and working towards decolonizing academia in a spirit of solidarity.
