Hello Petra,
Have you tried consulting the directory on the Canadian Association for Professional Conservators (CAPC) website. They have a page on how to select a conservator that’s right for you (Selecting A Conservator – Canadian Association of Professional Conservators<https://capc-acrp.ca/en/what-is-conservation/selecting-a-conservator>) as well as a directory of accredited conservators in Canada. That’s always a good place to start.
Kind regards,
Lauren

Hi BC museum folks!
It was recently pointed out to us at the Summerland Museum that our saddles on display are in need of some conservation care. Both were used by prominent early citizens of our community and are a priority for preservation. Please see photos of the saddles attached.
As a first step, I will be putting a barrier between the saddles and wooden mounts they are displayed on. Next, I would like to find a leather conservator or someone else with a similar skillset who could help slow down the decay of the leather.
Can anyone recommend a conservator who works with these kind of materials?
Thanks very much,
Petra
