and Paige Hohmann on digital archival repositories, speaking to both
end-users/researchers as well as archives professionals working to increase
the digital accessibility of the holdings they steward. Please join us for

Sometimes, the scanning is the easy part. This presentation will bring
together Sasha Han (Arca) and Paige Hohmann (BC Regional Digitized History
at UBC Okanagan) to discuss a menu of ways and means for BC repositories to
get past scanning, and through to mounting collections online — and for
researchers to get value out of those mounted collections. Starting with an
explanation of available supports, resourcing and funding opportunities,
and hosting options with a focus on Arca as a shared digital repository
service, the presentation will also provide a technical walk through of the
Arca platform. It will conclude with case studies of how these programs
have generated value for both GLAM organizations as well as for scholars
and researchers.



*Sasha Han is a Consortial Librarian at the BC Electronic Library Network,
where she supports Arca, BC’s collaborative digital repository service. In
partnership with the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre at UBC Vancouver, she
leads two services that help organizations participate in the BC History
Digitization Program (BCHDP), providing application support for prospective
grant applicants and digital hosting for grant recipients. Sasha is also a
passionate digitizer in her free time, having scanned and described
thousands of photographs from her family’s personal collection.Paige
Hohmann has been the archivist at UBC’s Okanagan Campus Library in Kelowna,
BC, since 2016. In that role, she has stewarded the library’s Special
Collections, initiated a campus-level records management and archival
program, and coordinated the BC Regional Digitized History project
(https://bcrdh.ca <https://bcrdh.ca>). A sense of identity in place has
informed all her professional activities, most of all the BCRDH project,
which seeks to cultivate access to digitized heritage materials through
community partnerships in BC’s southern interior. *
