Anyone NOT know about Geordie's great local business? Who needs a car when
Geordie brings local, organic food to you. Even a Thanksgiving turkey if

Dear HGOF Members,

It's turkey time!  For your thanksgiving celebration this year, Home Grown 
Organic Foods is pleased to offer Free Range Turkeys from the MacNeil 
Family Farm.  Turkeys range in size from 12 to 20 pounds and the cost is 
$3.50 / lb. They are available for pickup at the barn on Saturday, October 
8th from 10 - 5 pm or for home delivery on Saturday, October 8th.  There is 
a 5.00 delivery charge, unless of course,  your order is greater than 
$50.00 or, if you happen to be receiving a food box with your 
delivery.  The order deadline is Thursday, October 6th at 6 pm.  Supplies 
are limited.

This week, we have a scrumptious food box filled with a nice variety of 
local fruits and veggies, including some very tasty cauliflower, carrots, 
potatoes and leeks.  Apples are in good supply this fall.  For your 
crunching pleasure this week, macs, gravz, cortlands, ribstons, red free, 
prima, jonnagold and last but not least, deep purple are all available at 
the barn on Saturday from 9 - 5 or for home delivery on Wednesday evening 
(7 - 9 pm) or Saturday morning (11 - 1pm).

Community News
Thanks to everyone who came out for the second annual Fall Harvest 
Fair.  Home Grown was serving up Phad Thai and preaching the gospel of 
local, organics.  Zuppa Circus made an appearance alongside a number of 
local musicians including Tyler Messick and the Museum Pieces, Jen Grant, 
Gypsophelia and others.  Congratulations to Julia and the hardworking 
members of the Food Action Committee at the Ecology Action Centre for their 
tireless efforts to organize this event without a hitch.

Tonight, like minded folks interested in discussing sustainability issues 
will be meeting under the Halifax Green Drinks banner at Your Father's 
Mustache, located at 5686 Spring Garden Rd. from 6:30 to 10:00 pm. Visit

worldwide organization.

deliveries.  The route is situated on the Peninsula and the delivery time 
is from 6 - 9 pm.  You are required to own and maintain your own

What's New
There is a new organic lunch destination on the ground floor of the Grad 
House.  Sean Gallagher of Terroir, a local source catering company is 
offering healthy, organic salads and sandwiches.  Check it out.  You 
certainly won't be disappointed by the quality or the portions and the 
price is right.

Now that the fall harvest is in full swing, there is no better time to set 
your appetite on local, organic home cooking, so drop the barn on Saturday
