*Dear Friends,

I thought you would like to know about this new organisation called
Avaaz that has had some success getting world leaders to take action on
climate change. Avaaz recently enjoyed a major victory when 100,000
people from 181 countries managed to get G8 president German Chancellor
Angela Merkel to put climate change at the top of the agenda for the G8
leaders summit in June. This is an amazing achievement, but there’s
still a long way to go. I thought you would want to help Avaaz get as
many signatures possible so that when the G8 summit arrives, the leaders
simply have to act! Please visit their website, below.

Avaaz.org is a community of global citizens who take action on the major
issues facing the world today. Its aim is to ensure that the views and
values of the world’s people -- and not just political elites and
unaccountable corporations -- shape global decisions. Avaaz.org members
are taking action for a more just and peaceful world and a vision of
globalization with a human face. Avaaz means voice in a variety of
Asian, Middle Eastern and European languages. There are already 1
million people from 182 countries that form the Avaaz.org community.
