Energy Strategy Coordinator

Job classification: Full-time for 43 weeks (with the possibility of
extension)

Location: Charlottetown, PEI
The Environmental Coalition of Prince Edward Island (ECO-PEI) is a
founding partner of the Atlantic Canada Sustainable Energy Coalition
(ACSEC). ACSEC takes action on climate change by promoting the
adoption of renewable, green energy and improved energy efficiency
that is rooted in community economic development. The Energy
Strategy Coordinator will work in collaboration with project
implementation staff to further this mandate.
Qualifications:
The successful applicant will have a degree from a post-secondary
institution to at least the Bachelors level and be knowledgeable on
issues relating to climate change, energy and community development.
Experience with renewable energy and energy efficiency (technical and/
or research) is considered an asset. The ECO-PEI Energy Project is
seeking a highly motivated and self-directed individual who works
effectively in an unstructured environment and in collaborative
partnerships. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal and
communication skills including public speaking and writing skills.
This position will require strong analytical, planning and
organizational abilities.
Job Duties:
The Energy Strategy Coordinator will be required to become familiar
with energy and climate change issues at the provincial and regional
level. The successful individual will be responsible for policy
research and analysis as well as outreach and education with respect
to energy efficiency and renewable energy and their link to community
economic development. The individual will work with other members of
ACSEC to share information, develop joint energy strategies and
participate in regional meetings and events. Some travel will be
required. The Energy Strategy Coordinator will be the primary
administrator of the ECO-PEI Energy Project and therefore responsible
for all reporting and other administrative tasks. Duties will also
include media relations, conducting public meetings and fundraising
(i.e. writing grant proposals).
