Title: Sustainable Transportation Project Coordinator
Contract: May 1st, 2009 - March 31st, 2011
Salary: $30,000 - $32,000 per annum
Vacation: 2 weeks
Benefits: Available after first year
Position: 35 hours/week
Brief Position Description
Clean Nova Scotia is currently seeking a Project Coordinator for a
multi-year contract for a Sustainable Transportation Plan for Dalhousie
University and the Nova Scotia Agricultural College. The main goals of
the project are to 1)reduce the number of single-occupancy car trips by
students and staff; and 2)increase the number of trips using sustainable
transportation methods such as carpooling, transit, cycling, walking,
and telecommuting.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic and outgoing individual with
excellent public outreach and motivational skills. Clean Nova Scotia's
workplace is dynamic, fast-paced, exciting, fun, and supportive. The
position will have the support and assistance of the other
transportation and climate change programs at Clean Nova Scotia.
Responsibilities:
* Research, data collection and evaluation
* Build and maintain relevant partnerships
* Consultations with students and staff and other stakeholders
to establish the obstacles and motivators to sustainable transportation
in the various campuses
* Conduct small scale pilot projects to test new approaches
* Develop and deliver/coordinate strategies (eg. activities,
materials, presentations etc) for staff and students to enable a shift
to sustainable modes of transportation
* Engage and motivate the target audiences to adopt sustainable
modes of transportation
Skill Set:
* Minimum of one year of experience conducting public outreach
* Experience conducting public consultations
* Background in sustainable transportation
* Familiarity with community based social marketing
* Degree in public relations, communications, or related field
and/or equivalent experience
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (including
public speaking)
* Excellent organizational skills
* Ability to multi-task and prioritize
* Strong time management skills
* Proven ability to meet deliverables and deadlines
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* A valid driver's license and willingness to travel around Nova
Scotia is required
