Future of Agriculture & The Role for 
Urban Agriculture (August 5, 2009)
Lance Johnson entertains the 
audience with an informative and interesting presentation on what the future 
holds for agriculture. Lance will explore how the recent global recession, peak 
oil and muli-national agriculture companies are changing the agriculture 
landscape. He will explain how there is an unprecedented awakening of the human 
spirit and food consciousness emerging around the world and the role Urban 
Agriculture will play in our cities.

Organic Street Festival (August 9, 
2009)
Featured acts will be Two Hours Traffic, Meaghan Blanchard, 
Teresa Doyle, Smothered In Hugs, Racoon Bandit, Boxer the Horse, The Blueprints, 
The Danks, The Haunted Hearts, The Maybes, Mi’kmaq Thunder, The Count and the 
Cuban Cocktail, Bryson Guptill, The Disco Rockin’ Lamas and Pat Deighan and the 
Orb Weavers. Chef Michael Smith and organic farmer Raymond Loo will be doing 
presentations, organic food will be sold by local vendors, and there will be 
family activities as well.

Social Forum: Connected Intelligence - Social Networking and It’s Impact on 
Culture (August 10, 2009)
Derrick de Kerckhove is the author of ‘The 
Skin of Culture’ and ‘Connected Intelligence.’ He worked with Marshall McLuhan 
for over ten years and later became Director of the McLuhan Program in Culture 
and Technology at the University of Toronto. He is currently Professor in the 
Faculty of Sociology at the University of Naples Federico II and Professor in 
the Department of French at the University of Toronto.
Tonight Derrick will lead a discussion that 
addresses the differences between the effects of television, computers and 
hypermedia on corporate culture, business practices and economic 
markets.
