STRATEGY SESSION ON MOVING FORWARD ON EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
(ESD) ON MAR. 26
There will be a free, public strategy session on advancing Education for
Sustainable Development (ESD) in Nova Scotia on Friday, March 26 from
1:30pm-4:30pm at the NSCC Waterfront Campus in Room 4426, 80 Mawiomi Place
in Dartmouth. Note: There will be an optional tour of the green external
architecture of the new Centre for the Built Environment at the NS Community
College from 12:30-1:15 pm. All welcome but seating is limited (limited to
25) and RSVPs are required. Speakers include Ray Cote, Chair of the
Minister's Roundtable of the Environment & Sustainable Prosperity; Sue
Boutilier, NS Community College, and Stan Kozak, national representative ESD
Canada and Learning for a Sustainable Future. Organized by SENSE:

THE GREEN ROOTS SYMPOSIUM: COMMUNITY ACTION ON SUSTAINABILITY, EDUCATION &
PARTNERSHIPS
MARCH 26-27, 2010 IN HALIFAX 
Nova Scotia Environment, the NS Department of Education and the
Sustainability Education in Nova Scotia for Everyone Working Group (SENSE)
invite you to attend this exciting provincial gathering dedicated to
sustainability in Nova Scotia, with a focus on education and partnerships. 

.         Respected Mi'kmaq Elder Albert Marshall will share the concept of
Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing) and how it can serve as a guiding principle for
sustainability
.         Keynote Luncheon with NS Environment Minister Sterling Belliveau 
.         A plenary session on provincial priorities two days after the NS
throne speech with the Deputy Minister of the NS Office of Policy and
Priorities, Rick Williams 
.         A moderated session on working with the provincial government
.         Local food advocate and entrepreneur, Lil MacPherson as Master of
Ceremonies
.         A performance by the award-winning youth group Mindshift 
.         A meet and greet reception that showcases successes and best
practices from around the province 

The Friday night and Saturday events occur at the Prince George Hotel in
Halifax (the Strategy session will be at the NSCC in Dartmouth). Please
submit the attached registration form before March 22, 2010 to take
advantage of the low registration fee of $20. Friday events are free,
however they do require participant registration. Register on-line at

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CAUCUS (EEC) MEETING on Mar. 22
All welcome to those interested in environmental education. The Next EEC
meeting is Monday March 22, 2010 from 2-4pm at Saint Mary's University,
Atrium Building in Room 213. The agenda will include a tour of the new

NSEN'S ANNUAL BOOK CLUB ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY! READ "THE GREEN COLLAR
ECONOMY" BY VAN JONES.
"The Green Collar Economy: How One Solution Can Fix Our Two Biggest
Problems" by Author Van Jones. 
Saturday, June 5 at 2-4 p.m.
Tynes Room, Alderney Gate Library, Dartmouth
Join the Nova Scotia Environmental Network's Annual Book Club on World
Environment Day. We will discuss Van Jones' award-winning book "The Green
Collar Economy: How One Solution Can Fix Our Two Biggest Problems" - get the
book and participate in the dialogue. We will also watch a short video-clip
"Green for All" about the possibilities for a new economy. The book is
available to borrow at the HRM Public Libraries. Organized by the Nova
