FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT Fort McNab: Gatekeeper of
Halifax Harbour (March 28, 2011.)  Join the Friends of McNabs Island Society
for its 21st ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING and presentation on Thursday,
April 14that 7:00 pm in
the Small Craft Gallery of the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, 1675 Lower
Water Street, in Halifax.

Guest Speaker will be *Dr. Carla Wheaton*, Cultural Resource Manager* *with
*Parks Canada*. Dr. Wheaton will present an illustrated talk entitled *Fort
McNab: the Gatekeeper of Halifax Harbour.  *Learn more about the restoration
work over the past year to stabilize this 19th century National Historic
Site. Find out how the great guns that once protected Halifax were returned
to their post at Fort McNab overlooking Halifax Harbour.* * Discover the
history of this important fortification built in 1892 that has greeted
visitors to Halifax for over a century.
