Position: Nature Interpreter

Job Description:



Located at the Ducks Unlimited Greenwing Legacy Interpretive Centre within the Shubenacadie Provincial Wildlife Park and reporting to the Manager Outreach Programs, Atlantic, the Nature Interpreter is responsible for the daily delivery and maintenance of high quality visitor services, public education, and school programs based on the resources and themes of wetland education. The Nature Interpreter communicates effectively with people of all ages about the Greenwing Legacy Interpretive Centre, its education programs and interpretive displays, wetland species and ecology, management techniques and conservation, and organizes or assists with special projects and events.



Activities include: traveling to various wetland sites in Nova Scotia to deliver outdoor, field experience programs, liaising with wetland sites, program participants, and Atlantic Education Specialist, booking programs, confirmation, and invoicing, assisting DUC staff and Education Program Coordinator at the Greenwing Legacy Interpretive Centre with other environmental education programs, conferences, and volunteer workshops, as required and completing a final report.



This position involves some travel. The position is based out of the Ducks Unlimited Canada Greenwing Legacy Interpretive Centre. The position is for 14 weeks at $12.00/hour (approximately 35 hours per week) commencing May 2nd, 2011. (Pending Funding Approval)



Candidates must:



• Possess a valid driver's license

• Possess valid first aid training an asset

• Have experience working with youth and delivering youth programs

• Knowledge of wildlife/wetland biology (or equivalent experience) is an asset

• Excellent communication and organization skills

• Enthusiasm for the outdoors, wildlife and environmental conservation

• Energetic and love working with children and the public
