‘Volunteer Climate Change Workshop Facilitator’ x 2 positions
Summary
The ‘Volunteer Climate Change Workshop Facilitator’ will help to deliver
educational workshops and presentations to children and young people in
schools across Nova Scotia in the subject of climate change. The facilitator
will be confident and outgoing with a background or interest in science,
sustainability or climate change, and preferably with experience teaching or
facilitating groups of young people (aged primary to grade 6, or grade
7-12).
Candidates must be willing to commit to at least 1 day per week for a
minimum of 3 months – no weekend or evening work required. Location: various
regions throughout Nova Scotia.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
- A strong interest in climate change, sustainability or science in
general
- Confident and outgoing
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Friendly and personable
- Good listening skills
- Willingness to present and facilitate groups
- Full Nova Scotia driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced criminal records bureau check
- Ability to commit to one day per week (minimum of 3 months)
Desirable Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- Desirable qualifications: BSc or BEd (or working towards)
- Experience teaching or facilitating groups in a public setting
- Experience of youth work or working with young children (ages 5-18)
- Knowledge of current climate change issues
- Understanding of Adventure learning, Participatory learning and/or
Youth Inclusion tools / practices
- Ability and willingness to contribute new ideas to improve workshops
and presentations in new and exciting ways
