New Glasgow Farmers Market Cooperative, Market Manager, 2011 Season
The New Glasgow Farmers Market Cooperative is looking for a Market
Manager for the 2011 season. The NG Market will be in its fourth year
in 2011, with a dedicated building provided by the Town of New
Glasgow, 24 current members, and a season from June 1st to October
31st.
The Market Manager will work from the membership meeting in April
through mid-November following the end of the Market. Responsibilities
include:
Register vendors for market, assign spaces as needed, collect table
fees, distribute documents as needed (incl. Rules and Regulations,
Permit applications, Health and Food Safety information, etc.).
Maintain detailed and accurate records of vendor's membership status,
contact information, markets attended and fees paid (for year end
receipts) and report weekly to the Board.
Prepare market on market days, including posting signs/decorations for
events, assure cleanliness and all operational functions, unlock and
lock building at agreed-upon times, manage interviews and contacts as
necessary. Market building should be open from 7 am to 1 pm for vendor
set-up and clean-up.
Make regular status reports to the Board regarding vendor needs and
issues, as requested by the Board, including monthly financial
reports. Consult with Board on all decisions.
Book musical acts, demonstrations, and other entertainments as needed
and manage fundraisers occurring on-site during the Market.
Prepare and deposit weekly remittances.
Prepare and distribute promotional flyers and other advertising to
tourist and community sites within the county.
Access to and comfort with email required; additional computer
literacy beneficial, especially Microsoft Excel and Word, or
comparable programs.
Liaise with representatives of the Town of New Glasgow with regard to
advertising, building requirements, and other issues of joint
interest.
Have complete knowledge of Market Rules & Regulations, and be able to
enforce them as needed.
Salary will be commensurate with experience. The Board expects an
average of 15-20 hours per week, but the job requires flexibility.
