Description: The Community Energy Cooperative of New Brunswick Limited (CEC) is seeking a highly motivated co-operative manager to begin implementation of its business strategy, which will aim to be financially viable long-term, maximize local employment, and reflect the cooperative social and environmental ethics of our mission.

The Community Energy Co-op (CEC) of New Brunswick is a community-based co-operative with the mission to invest and participate in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in New Brunswick.


The ideal candidate has:

* a firm understanding of the ICA standard of the Co-operative identity, its values and principles, and experience working in Co-operatives

* Proven leadership experience and personal motivation

* Excellent communication skills

* An interest in community-based initiatives and able to work with a variety of groups and government agencies.


Assets:

* Practical experience or interest in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency

* Experience in project management

* Experience developing operational policies and governance structures


Job Description

The Co-operative Manager is the lead staff position in the furthering of the mission and vision of the Community Energy Co-operative. This includes using sound, best practices for management of employees and projects, including:


Management

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Co-operative

- Create monthly work plans, describing tasks, timelines, and goals

- Create monthly follow-up reports, detailing activities conducted in the previous month based upon the work plan

- Oversee all projects taken on as part of the Co-operative's activities, ensuring their completion

- Work with the Board of Directors in the approval of monthly work plans, follow up reports and project development and deployment

- Work with the Board of Directors in the development of policy for the management of various aspects of the Co-operative

- Ensure regular communication with the Board of Directors, as agreed upon by both parties


Human Resources

- supervision of staff and resource persons

- creating job descriptions and management plans for staff positions

- arranging for the appropriate paperwork for hiring new staff and maintaining current staff


Financial Accounting

- work with the bookkeeper to ensure sound financial accounting practices

- organize and maintain all financial materials, and prepare monthly packages, as agreed upon by the bookkeeper


Co-operative Expansion

- develop and oversee projects that further the mission and vision of the Co-operative

- explore and expand upon current and new business development opportunities that lead to profitable activities for the Co-operative

- Take lead responsibility for maintaining and improve client relations


Membership and Community Engagement

- develop member and community engagement material (i.e. pamphlets, presentations), and ensure their proper promotion through various means

- arrange for partnership opportunities and presentations, so as to direct strategic engagement activities

- maintain the membership list and all pertinent information

- pursue membership engagement and recruitment opportunities as they arise


Remuneration: The remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Position: Wind Turbine Manufacturing Assistant

Description: The Community Energy Cooperative of New Brunswick Limited (CEC) is seeking a skilled technician to work with our Energy Technician and consultants on developing community-based wind energy initiatives in the Knowlesville area. The Community Energy Co-op (CEC) of New Brunswick is a community-based co-operative with the mission to invest and participate in renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in New Brunswick.


Wind Turbine Manufacturing Assistant

Assist with the building, assembly of axial flux wind turbines. This is a probationary 6 month position to assess the possibility of small scale manufacturing as a pilot initiative of the Community Energy Co-ops business plan. The position includes training with an experienced mentor and the goal of building and installing at cost at least 3 wind turbines. This position will work under the direction of the Energy Technician and includes development of the following deliverables that will aid in building a business case for co-op manufacturing:


Documentation

- of complete parts and tools needed for the manufacturing of the prototype wind turbine and where to source all parts

- of the processes and procedures of the manufacturing process

- of the time / labour expense associated with the manufacturing process


Training

- pursue training opportunities as they arise, in discussion and with the approval of the Co-operative Manager & Energy Technician


Installations

- Assist with any installation of wind turbines and/ or other installations taken on by the Energy Technician

- Assist in the maintenance of equipment, tools, and other materials required in the performance of installations


Research

- Develop efficient and safe ways of working with materials and keep a binder with all Hazardous Material Safety Sheets for any item that so requires it

- maintain a database of relevant research and information for future reference


Remuneration: The remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
