CBRM Water Fun Fair joins the Canada Day Celebrations at Petersfield July 1

Sydney, NS - Water games, water guns and water fun will be a new addition to
the CBRM Canada Day Celebrations at Petersfield in Westmount July 1st. The
Water Fun Fair will take place from 1:30 to 4:30 and is open to everyone
interested in making a splash and learning why water is a wonderful thing to
conserve and protect.

The third annual Water Fun Fair, hosted in partnership with ACAP Cape
Breton, CBRM Water Utility and CBRM Wastewater Operations will feature nine
different games and activities for young people. There will also be an
eco-info table for adults.

"We're very excited to hold this year's Water Fun Fair at the Petersfield
Canada Day event," says Susan King, Executive Director at ACAP Cape Breton.
"These celebrations are always wonderful and busy and we are happy to add a
fun and environmental twist to the children's program."

This interactive program puts a spin on local water issues by turning them
into outdoor games, races and obstacle courses. Children can save their tap
water source by keeping all the litter out of a miniature version of a lake.
It's great fun to figure out how to conserve water when challenged in a
relay race. It's easy to figure what doesn't go down the drain when children
have to 'blast out the bad guys' with water guns. For the creative bunch,
there will be an artists' corner complete with display for all the new
creations.

The Water Fun Fair, as well as the Canada Day Celebrations, is free and
everyone is welcome.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Atlantic Coastal Action Program (ACAP)
Cape Breton is a non-profit, charitable community organization. Located at
582 George Street in Sydney, this dynamic group integrates environmental,
social and economic factors into projects focusing on action, education and
ecosystem planning.
