CBRM Trails Animation Coordinator (Job Number: 004568)
Cape Breton Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia
35 hours/week, June 11 - August 24
1 position available
$13/hour

CBRM Trails Animation Project is a collaboration of three trails
groups (Coxheath Hills, the East Bay Area Community Council, and the
Baille Ard Recreation Association) and the CBRM Recreation Department
with support from ACAP Cape Breton.

Building on the resource Earth Adventures by Janet Barlow, the
ultimate goal of the project is to research, develop, and deliver a
new program that will offer interactive and educational programming on
at least three trails in the CBRM to engage participants in the
trails' history & natural settings, to increase awareness and
understanding of these environments and their role in protecting and
conserving them.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating,
supervising, and working with a group of students to further develop
the program and deliver it in at least three trail locations in the
CBRM. S/he will also be responsible for producing a resource to assist
in the future development of the project, which will include working
with web pages and developing printed material.

The successful candidate must:
- Be a returning post-secondary student
          - A background in education, recreation, or related fields
is preferable.
- Have some supervisory experience
- Have strong written and oral communication, time management, and
research skills
- Be comfortable presenting to the public and working outdoors
- Hold a valid driver’s license
- Be certified in Standard/Emergency First Aid/CPR
- Agree to the completion of a Child Abuse Register Check and a CBRM
Police Record Check
- Be self-motivated and interested in working with the partnering
organizations to make a strong contribution to the future of the
project
-  Be 21 years of age in order to drive a rental vehicle

The following are not required, but would be considered assets:
- Knowledge of the partnering organizations
- Familiarity with trails in the CBRM
- Other knowledge or experience relevant to trail animation and
environmental education
- Ability to speak French
