Nature Nova Scotia and the Young Naturalists Club of Nova Scotia are pleased to announce their second annual weekend long youth centered nature program during the 23rd Annual Nature Nova Scotia Annual Conference and General Meeting.

The conference will take place over the May 24-26th weekend at Milford House, South Milford, Nova Scotia - located halfway between Annapolis Royal and Kejimukujik National Park.

This is a chance for youth and families to interact and learn from some of the best naturalists in the Province. Youth will be able to explore and refine their naturalist skills attending interactive presentations and going on field trips. This years topics include the history of Nova Scotia’s forests, endangered and threatened species such as the Blanding’s Turtle and Ribbonsnake, and a campfire conversation with Bear River Chief Frank Meuse.  Activities include planting a butterfly garden, learning how to test water quality and visiting an apiary.  Content will be geared towards 8-12 year olds. It is also wonderful opportunity for parents to participate in adult programming while their kids are in the concurrent youth programming, then reconnecting for family field trips such as canoeing and hiking local trails during free time. Milford House is wonderful place to explore nature and they have generously offered us an amazing package for the weekend (At least one parent must accompany youth for the weekend as there will be times when they will not be supervised in the program)
