** Something new for your garden – Mushrooms!

Are you getting tired of the same old peas and carrots?  Add a twist to your garden and your diet with the wonderful world of gourmet Shiitake mushrooms!  They add great flavor to all kinds of dishes, they’re chock full of minerals and nutrients, and they’re easy to grow.

Interested?  Falls Brook Centre is hosting our annual Grow-Your-Own Shiitake Mushroom Workshop on Saturday May 10th, from 10am until 4pm.  Spend the morning learning about different types of edible mushrooms from oyster, to lion’s main, to reishi and shiitake with Mycologist David Boyle.  Then put your new found knowledge to work by creating your own mushroom growing log in the afternoon.

To learn more join us in West Glassville for the workshop.  The cost to attend in $60 per adult and $10 for children 10 and under.  The fee includes a delicious home-cooked dinner and an inoculated shiitake log to take home. Pre-registration is required. ** Springtime Beekeeping workshop Saturday May 24 1-5pm

Would you like to know more about raising honey bees? This beginner workshop will give you hands-on experience in the basics of beekeeping. Bees serve the important function of pollination for your gardens as well as native and wild plants and trees. By raising these amazing insects at home you can harvest many products including honey, wax, pollen and propolis.

Falls Brook Centre is offering an introduction to beekeeping for just $40/person, please pre-register. Learn about the lifecycle, maintenance and care of bees throughout the year.

I want my own hive! Falls Brook Centre can help. For $600, you will be provided with a full beekeeping starter kit including a hive, bees, and a beekeeping jacket. To register, please call Greg at 506-246-1114 or email greg at fallsbrookcentre.ca.
