Bullfrog Power and Falls Brook Centre to unveil new solar installation at Free School event

Free School runs August 22-24, features an All-Candidates Meeting, community workshops
Glassville, New Brunswick, August 6, 2014—Bullfrog Power, Canada's leading green energy provider, and Falls Brook Centre, a leading education and demonstration centre, are partnering to bring new solar electricity to New Brunswick. Bullfrog Power will be in Glassville to unveil the solar photovoltaic installation during Falls Brook Centre’s 6th annual Free School, August 22-24, 2014. Through its Bullfrog Builds Renewable Accelerator Program, Bullfrog Power provided funding for the 12-panel solar installation on Falls Brook Centre’s main building that will generate clean, pollution-free electricity.
“Because of its strong environmental leadership and focus on education, Falls Brook Centre is the perfect choice for the first Bullfrog Builds project in New Brunswick,” said Ron Seftel, Senior Vice President, Operations, Bullfrog Power. “Through the support of our customers who bullfrogpower their homes and businesses, we are able to provide critical financial support to the development of new renewable energy projects here in New Brunswick and across Canada to help create a cleaner, healthier world.”
The 3 kW solar photovoltaic installation on the roof of Falls Brook Centre’s main building will generate clean, renewable power that can be stored in the battery system on-site and used in day-to-day operations. On bright days when the solar system is producing more electricity than will be used, Falls Brook Centre will put excess power back onto the grid in exchange for credit from NB Power.
“In the wake of Hurricane Arthur, and as New Brunswickers realize the importance of sustainable and clean energy, the need for sites to demonstrate the possibilities for renewable energy is paramount,” says Marc Gionet, Executive Director, Falls Brook Centre. “The partnership with Bullfrog Power to outfit our main building with solar power is an important step as Falls Brook Centre strives to meet our goals to increase institutional, commercial, and household use of renewable energy, as well as increase the knowledge, skills and accessibility of sustainable practices within the communities we serve.”

Falls Brook Centre’s 6th annual Free School, a series of workshops focused on communal and participatory learning that encourage everyone to adopt the role of both teacher and student, takes place August 22-24. Over the course of the weekend, Free School will provide a forum for community members from diverse backgrounds to teach, learn and celebrate in a space that fosters open communication, innovation and a hands-on, hard-skills culture. Bullfrog Power will lead a workshop on creating community-based renewable energy projects. Additional workshops cover a variety of subjects, including:
* An All Candidates Meeting
* How to change a car tire
* A songwriting circle
* How to build a solar dehydrator
* Dance lessons
* How to make your own non-toxic cleaning products
* Activities for children
