Pottery Pit Firing Workshop at the Deanery Project

Part 1: Sunday, June 1, 12 – 4:00
St. Andrews Community Recreation Centre
6955 Bayer’s Road, Halifax
Instructors: Basia Lukwinski, Kayla Stride

Create hand-built , wheel, and mold pieces in Raku clay.Terra sigillata
will be available for special finishes.Completed pieces will be bisque
fired and transported to the Deanery Project for Part 2.
Please bring a bagged lunch.

Part 2: Sunday, June 15, 10:00 – 5:00

Instructors: Basia Lukwinski, Kayla Stride, Kim Thompson

Participants will decorate, glaze and fire their pots; and learn pit firing
systems. They will also test bisque firing techniquesin an on-site Rocket
Stove and a cob oven.Kim will give a hands-on introduction to natural (raw)
clay finish plasters and clay paints.
Lunch will be provided for Part 2, potluck contributions are appreciated.
