Ghouls, goblins and witches may be out to scare you this Halloween, but climate change is much scarier. EOS has been hard at work this fall with events, education and infrastructure projects to help mitigate against and adapt to climate change in Tantramar. In this fall edition of our newsletter learn about rain barrels, electric vehicle charging stations, living off the grid, preparing for flooding and much more. Have a safe and happy Halloween!

DIY Rain Barrel Workshop was a Success
==========
EOS hosted a DIY rain barrel workshop on Saturday, August 16th in the Sackville Community Garden. 20 people attended and were entertained by Max MacNichol of Dorchester's Eco-Container Co. Max explained the benefits of rain barrels, how to maintain them, different design options and other sustainable gardening tips. Participants each took home a plain food-grade barrel to turn into a rain barrel. The event was funded by the New Brunswick Environmental Trust Fund. Find out more about the workshop and our recent projects on storm water management and water conservation [here.](http://eosecoenergy.com/en/projects/climate-change-adaptation/it-never-rains-but-it-pours/)
EOS was at the Sackville Fall Fair
==========
The theme of this year's Fall Fair was "Sackville Proud". With the recent installation of an electric vehicle charging station in the town EOS was really proud of Sackville! To celebrate EOS participated in the Fall Fair with an information booth, solar baked cookies and our Climate Action 500 carnival game. Kids of all ages enjoyed playing for the chance to win great prizes like organic suckers and eco-friendly pens made from recycled paper. EOS also had draws for a double rain barrel system and a story sack filled with children's books and activities on climate change and renewable energy. The lucky winners were Quinn McAskill of Sackville and Erica Wilson of Sackville.
Sackville now has an EV Charging Station!
==========
The launch of Sackville's first electric vehicle charging station took place Tuesday, September 2nd at the Sackville Visitor Information Centre (34 Mallard Drive). The event was very well attended and representatives from Sun County Highway (the manufacturer), the Town of Sackville and EOS spoke. The charging station continues to be used regularly (monitoring has been done by staff at the VIC). It is listed on a variety of charging station aps and maps and has been used by EV drivers from as far away at Oregon! Check out the full story and more photos [here](http://eosecoenergy.com/en/projects/energy-sustainability/ev-charging-station/).
A lot of Interest in Living Off-Grid in Tantramar!
==========
EOS hosted a very popular talk on living off the grid Saturday, October 18th at Open Sky Farm in Middle Sackville. Presenters Wendy Keats and Jim Brown spoke about their experiences in moving off the grid in southeast New Brunswick. The event was covered by CTV Atlantic. Check out the [news coverage here](http://atlantic.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=470623&binId=1.1145463&playlistPageNum=1).
