Business Opportunity for Residential Energy Advisor

NB Power’s Home Insulation Energy Savings Program

Bilingualism in English and French is a very strong asset.

Previous work with energy evaluations or construction/renovation experience is necessary.

Rate of Pay: Dependent on program demand (approximately $800 – $1,500 per week) + travel costs (per km rate)

Hours: Flexible work schedule (including days, weekends and evenings) based on work demands.

Location: Northwest New Brunswick, ideally based out of Edmunston, but not necessary.

Training is the week of June 22-26 in Fredericton

We are currently seeking an outgoing, energetic and dynamic individual to join our team as a Residential Energy Advisor (EA) for the soon-to-be-launched NB Power Home Insulation Energy Savings Program (HIESP).

Summerhill is not posting an offer for employment, but rather for a business arrangement. The EA will be self-employed and be required to maintain proper business registration and independent GST/HST registration. They will also be required to carry General Liability insurance up to $2 million inclusive for each of bodily injury including death and property damages, including a cross liability clause, as well as auto insurance up to $2 million.

Job Responsibilities:
• Have a friendly and professional manner and appearance; comfortable with entering residential homes
• Hot2000 software will not be used. The EA will NOT be responsible for report generation.
• Be comfortable with the installation of various products such as LED light bulbs and water conservation device (full training provided)
• Sales experience is a plus
• Educate customers about product use, energy efficiency and conservation
• Inventory Management
• Commit to fulfilling fluctuating work demands
• Occasional long distance travel (mileage paid)
• Promote the program at local events, by phone, door-to-door to generate additional business
• Digital data collection on site using your own mobile device
• Report to manager on weekly phone call
• Adhere to all Health & Safety protocols

Qualifications/Job Requirements:
• Must have a reliable vehicle
• Knowledge of building science a strong asset
• Must supply own equipment necessary to perform the work such as blower door (detailed list will be provided)
• Works independently, shows initiative, good with solving problems and geometry calculations
• Detail-oriented, punctual, conscientious, reliable and able to work independently
• Must be physically able to lift blower door and other equipment
• Must have a working mobile device with internet that meets specific requirements
• Able to schedule appointments, track inventory, and speak knowledgeably to customers about energy
• Able to bend, lift, and raise arms above shoulders & install items above head
• Respected and knowledgeable member of your community
• High school graduate minimum
• Must have a clean criminal record (background checks may be performed)
