Organization: Thinkwell Shift
Locations: Halifax, Truro & Southern Nova Scotia / Acadian shore (see below)
Thinkwell Shift (Shift) is a behavior change company that specializes in resource conservation. We create strategies that encourage people to make lasting changes in their daily lives to conserve resources such as water, energy, and waste. Shift is looking for like-minded individuals who can work exceptionally well independently and remotely, but who also enjoy being part of a small, dedicated team. Shift is looking for public engagement orientated individuals who enjoy working with youth.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Participate in the development and deployment of recruitment strategies for the 2016-2017 program.
Promote energy efficiency and a culture of conservation throughout the province.
Work to actively recruit new schools, and re-register schools that participated in the program in the previous school year.
Research, development and creation of resources.
Introduce program goals, logistics, and resources to new and returning schools.
Provide on-the-ground advice, support, and mentorship to participating schools throughout the school year.
Forge, maintain, and strengthen relationships with the school community (students, teachers, administrators, parents), partners, and other stakeholders.
Help implement pilot projects, new resources, and baseline and end-of-year surveys and other evaluation methods.
Participate in meetings with the program team in Halifax as required.
Write small stories for website and social media.
Contribute to the development of web, social media, and printed content for the program.
Engagement Officers will be assigned and responsible for a specific region in the province, ideally corresponding to the region in which they live. Please indicate in your cover letter which region you would be most interested in working:
HRM/Annapolis Valley/Central Nova Scotia (f/t) - ideal candidate based in HRM area
Northern Nova Scotia (f/t) - ideal candidate based in Truro area
CSAP - Conseil scolaire acadien provincial (p/t) - ideal candidate based in southern Nova Scotia/Acadian shore
We will do our utmost to accommodate these preferences if possible; however, successful candidates must demonstrate a willingness to travel throughout the province as required. As an environmental education program, we want to limit the amount of travel necessary so preference will be given to those candidates living in the area corresponding to their region of interest.

Experience working with children and youth (elementary, junior, and/or senior high school students) in a school setting and/or programming capacity.

Experience delivering youth programs with an environmental focus would be considered an asset.
Knowledge of the Nova Scotia school system and/or curriculum outcomes and lesson plan development would be considered an asset.
