What you’ll be doing


As a member of the School of Trades and Technology faculty team, you will deliver curriculum (both theoretical and applied) to students within the Energy Sustainability Engineering Technology (ESET) Program. You will also develop curriculum, develop and maintain course materials, evaluate student performance, facilitate student placements and conduct other related faculty duties. You will provide leadership with respect to shop/lab safety and development. You will also work with Research Scientists and the campus community to continue the transformation of campus buildings and grounds into models of energy conservation and sustainability. Our Pilikan House and campus buildings will provide you and your students opportunities to explore sustainability in both commercial and residential environments. You will be a mentor to students as they embark on their future career.

You have:

Minimum qualifications:
• You have a relevant degree in Mechanical/Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Energy Management, Alternate Energy, or Sustainability, combined with a minimum of five years of directly related experience in the energy industry, ideally on a multi-disciplinary team. Your experience may include both residential and commercial/industrial settings.
• You have experience in the areas of WHMIS, 5S+S, and Occupational Health and Safety.
• You possess some/all of the following related computer skills Windows 10, Microsoft Office, RETScreen AutoCAD, HOT2000, eQuest/CAN-QUEST and a thorough knowledge of Internet and e-mail technology.
• You are able demonstrate the use of MS Excel at an advanced level for data analysis and manipulation.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, including Desire2Learn would be an asset.
• Ideally, you possess a background in construction management, high-performance building systems & design and energy management.
• You are a skilled communicator with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
• You are passionate about the energy field and have a vision for future energy related projects, research and partnerships and have knowledge in the area of renewable energy.
• You are a LEED® Accredited Professional with the Canadian Green Building Council (or are eligible for accreditation).
• You are innovative, detail oriented and committed to life-long learning.
• You are familiar with the concepts of portfolio education. Your desire and enthusiasm to teach students with diverse backgrounds and knowledge, along with your superb presentation, interpersonal and team building skills make you an ideal candidate.

As a condition of employment, Faculty and Professional Support employees at NSCC must complete NSCC’s Community College Education Diploma Program (CCEDP). CCEDP is a two-year diploma that provides a foundation in adult education principles. CCEDP is a significant investment of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Faculty and Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete CCEDP within their probationary period. Term full-time Faculty who are employed for twelve or more months are also required to participate in CCEDP.
