Job Description and Logistics
The Adventure Coordinator will be the primary person coordinating Trips By Transits adventures. The coordinator will work with a range of people from volunteers to community partners ensuring adventures are exciting, safe, and meeting the communitys needs.
Prior experience with Trips By Transit is not essential. Knowledge and passion for Trips By Transits goals is a large asset.
Contract: 8 hours per week; $13.50/hour; 26 weeks: October 16th to April 27th (with two week winter break)

Duties and Responsibilities
The Adventure Coordinator will be the primary point person for getting Trips By Transit adventures up and running. This position has a broad range of responsibilities making it a dynamic and exciting position for the right individual. The position will engage in the following tasks:
Coordinating volunteers (trip leaders, videographers, and photographers) to get public and private adventures running
Assisting trip leaders in planning adventures
Stepping- in to lead public and private adventures
Seasonal volunteer outreach and orientation
Creating and administering facebook events for trips as well as posting on Instagram
Meeting and corresponding with trip sponsors
Working with the Executive Director to put together sponsorship and information packages for sponsors and partners
Bi-Weekly Hours Breakdown (16h total)
2 hours - check-in with TBT team (Meredith) or attending board meeting if necessary
2 hours - facilitating and preparing for trip leader meetings or individual trip leader check-ins
5 hours - leading public trips if necessary or going on planning and executing private trips with volunteers and videographer
2.5 hours - social media (event creation, posting, advertising)
2.5 hours - trip partnerships/sponsorships (meetings, creating supporting documents/applications)
2 hours - additional tasks (step-in trip leading, attending important events, etc.)
Skills and Competencies
Competency leading outdoor trips in a safe and engaging manner
Experience with meeting facilitation
Knowledge of experience in engaging, overseeing, and retaining volunteers
Comfort with self-direct work and efficient time management
Ability to effectively use social media
Knowledge of HRM wilderness spaces and bus routes is an asset
First Aid and CPR C Certification, Wilderness First Aid is an asset but not necessary
The right applicant does not need to have experience and competencies at all of the aforementioned skills. The hiring committee will give preference to applicants who show a strong passion for the mission and goals of Trips By Transit.
Structure
The Adventure Coordinator will be working with the Executive Director of Trips By Transit to receive direction and guidance as well as give feedback and advice. The position may occasionally work with the TBT Board of Directors.
The position is largely self-guided with 6-7 hours each week of self-directed work hours.
Approximately every 2 to 3 weeks the Adventure Coordinator will plan and execute an adventure, either leading a public trip, partnered/sponsored trip, or a private trip (with just the TBT team).
The overall schedule of the position is flexible for the right applicant. The applicant should have at least one day on the weekend available for occasional weekend adventures.
