Position: Project Coordinator: Building Regional Climate Change Adaptation Capacity and Expertise
Organization: NB Environmental Network
Location: Moncton, New Brunswick

Are you interested in learning, connecting, engaging with environmental groups, planners, engineers, and others working on climate change adaptation in New Brunswick, across Atlantic Canada and beyond? Do you like working with people, organizing and facilitating meetings, and have experience in teamwork?

The NBEN (http://www.nben.ca) is a dynamic and innovative organization that functions as the New Brunswick environmental movement’s “central station” – a hub that serves to convene and connect people working on environmental issues in the province. We are currently looking for a motivated individual to fill the position of Project Coordinator: Building Regional Climate Change Adaptation Capacity and Expertise.

The ideal candidate will be well-organized, independent yet experienced in team work, will have experience in leading diverse groups through consensus-based processes, and will be able to work in a multi-faceted environment where the digital interface is an integral part of the work.

The main job responsibility will be to coordinate a project that aims to build capacity among engineers, land use planners, and environmental organizations on the use of natural and nature-based infrastructure for climate change adaptation. This will be done through the implementation of a community of practice, linking various initiatives, learnings, and pilot projects, and expanding and advancing action in the province that incorporates natural and nature-based infrastructure. At the end of the project, these stakeholders will be able to better incorporate, understand, value, design and apply natural and nature-based infrastructure principles, processes and projects into climate change adaptation work in New Brunswick. The project will be overseen by a multi-stakeholder advisory committee.

Requirements:
• University degree (Bachelor or Masters) related to environmental science, environmental engineering, land-use planning, or equivalent work experience
• Understanding of climate change and adaptation, risks and impacts, land-use management, and ecosystem services and functioning through education or experience
• At least three (3) years’ experience in project management (preferably in a non-profit setting) resulting in strong organizational and planning skills
• Strong leadership skills and inter-personal skills
• Experience in networks and partnerships
• Excellent computer skills
• Strong oral and written communications skills in English and French
• Driver’s license

Assets:
• Facilitation skills
• Experience in event organization

Application deadline: November 23, 2018

Salary: $17-$19 per hour, with annual increases as the project progresses

Location: Moncton with travel around New Brunswick and elsewhere in Canada

Nature of job: Full-time employment contract until March 31, 2022
