The Campaign to Protect Offshore Nova Scotia (CPONS) is pleased to
Anna* *Metaxas *of Dalhousie University’s Oceanography Department. Metaxas
is an expert on Marine Protected Areas and Oceanic Refuges, and will speak
on Sunday, May 5th at the Mahone Bay Centre at 2:00pm.
With the planned proliferation of offshore activities including possible
seismic surveys, exploratory oil/gas drilling and the expansion of
aquaculture projects, exactly what marine protected areas and refuge areas
are, how they are delineated and how they will be managed has never been
more important to the people and communities of Nova Scotia.
Professor Metaxas, who has studied the ocean's life firsthand as an
experienced oceanographic researcher and SCUBA diver will outline this
important subject and answer your questions.
All are welcome to this important and timely talk. Admission is free, but
donations are welcome to help cover costs.
