Location: Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia
The Tatamagouche Centre is an educational centre focused on leadership development, spiritual deepening, and transformational education on both a personal and community level. The Centre is located in Mikmaki in the thriving rural community of Tatamagouche on the beautiful Waugh and French Rivers. It has always been a place of meeting, convergence and transformation foremost as an important gathering place for the Mikmaq people, the Acadians, and diverse visitors since. We are a charitable, non-profit organization and an education centre of the United Church of Canada.
Through the full welcome and inclusion of all people, Tatamagouche Centre offers its hospitality to everyone, works for the justice of all people, and joyfully affirms and celebrates human diversity in sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, ability, race, religion and age, regardless of economic situation. In addition to offering programs/training events, we also host activities of other like-minded organizations. The Centre currently enjoys a positive financial position through a combination of social enterprise activities, fundraising, and grants. This is an exciting opportunity for a new Executive Director to work creatively to fulfill the Centres mission, vision and values.
We are looking for someone who is collaborative, self-motivated, mature, and self-aware. The Applicant will be someone who has a passion for personal and social transformation through adult education and a willingness to integrate Tatamagouche Centres adult education model (ASPIRE). The Applicant will have strong inter-personal and cross-cultural skills and be committed to inclusion and relationships of solidarity against marginalization and oppression.
Because Tatamagouche Centre operates out of an inclusive spiritual framework, the applicant should be someone who is journeying on their own spiritual path.

Job Description:
Embody and convey the Centres vision, mission and values
Work with organizational partners (Indigenous partners, program leadership, United Church of Canada, and other community allies) to coordinate visionary programming
Represent the organization at regional events and build strategic organizational relationships (including offering public presentations)
Support the staff team by maintaining a collaborative workplace:
Connect regularly with staff for personal and organizational development and goal setting
Facilitate annual performance reviews
Organize regular staff meetings
Hire and supervise staff
Collaborate with staff bookkeeper and Board to oversee finances, manage project funding, create annual budget, and manage cashflow
Write grants and grant reports to all levels of government, private foundations, and the United Church of Canada to support low-income access to programs at the Centre
Develop a working knowledge of the Centres administrative tasks related to donations, hosting events, communications, and program registration to support efficient operation
Report to the Board of Directors and support committee work on policy, fundraising, finances, and programming
Oversee day-to-day operations of Centre
Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal, communication and team development skills
Grounded in an anti-oppressive approach to community work
Demonstrated commitment to working in solidarity with people of all identities to create spaces that are not only safe, but encourage meaningful exploration and dialogue
Experience working within and/or alongside marginalized communities
Ability to work with diverse collaborators in a multi-faceted organization within a challenging, rapidly changing context of Church and community
Significant leadership experience in the non-profit sector
Ability to understand and analyze financial statements and budgets ability to recognize financial opportunities and threats
Experience writing grant applications and reports
Experience in program development and management
Experience in supporting fundraising activities
Proficient in computer technology including Microsoft Office, G-Suite, social media, presentation software
Post-secondary education in a relevant field - or experiential equivalent
37.5 hrs/week; typically, Monday-Friday, but some flexibility needed for occasional weekend and evening work
What you can expect from us:
Salary range: $52,000 - $60,000
3-week vacation time, statutory holidays, and an openness to accommodate time related to personal life, significant days for faith, etc.
The Centre is closed the week between Christmas and New Years
