Title: Stewardship Assistant
Reports to: The Stewardship Assistant will report to the Program Coordinator.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Nature NB connects people with nature. We support a diverse network of nature-lovers across the province, providing opportunities for New Brunswickers of all ages, and from all regions and backgrounds, to discover, learn about, and share nature with each other. We travel throughout the province, teaching kids about nature in their schoolyards and neighbourhoods, advocating for species at risk through local outreach, and engaging volunteers in monitoring and protecting the species and landscapes they love.

Based out of our Sackville office, the Stewardship Assistant will work closely with the Program Coordinator to help our supporters take action to celebrate, conserve, and protect nature in New Brunswick. Duties for the Stewardship Assistant will include developing and delivering conservation education programs, planning community outreach events, assisting in managing volunteers, communicating with partner organizations, writing internal reports, participating in relevant workshops. The Stewardship Assistant ultimately helps us to research, manage and coordinate community outreach events, conservation projects, and education programs across the province. They will work on a variety of projects related to climate change, bird conservation, and protected natural areas.

This is a permanent, full-time, entry-level position with opportunity for training, growth, and development within the role.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

The Stewardship Assistant will work closely with the Program Coordinator and will assist with:
• Keeping new and existing supporters informed about current opportunities to engage with our work
• Developing and delivering citizen science and conservation-related programs to youth and adults
• Assisting in planning events and activities to engage our supporters, manage event logistics, and promote events to the public
• Assisting in managing volunteers
• Communicating and collaborating with partner organizations and volunteers across the province
• Conducting research, analyzing data, and preparing internal reports for Nature NB
• Participating in training and relevant workshops related to the position to expand personal and professional knowledge

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:

The successful candidate will have some combination of the following, developed from a University Degree and/or relevant work experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in natural science (eg. biology, environmental science, environmental studies, forestry, etc.) OR in education
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience in event planning and/or managing logistics
• Experience in program development
• Ability to easily prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; attention to detail
• Experience or interest in community engagement and public outreach
• Experience with GIS
• Interest in nature, conservation, climate change adaptation and advocacy
• Working proficiency in English and in French
• Valid Driver’s License is an asset
• Experience working with children is an asset
• Experience working in a non-profit setting is an asset

HOURLY WAGE:

$15/hour, 40 hours per week

Nousappuyons un réseau diversifié d’amoureux de la nature de partout en province, offrant aux Néo Brunswickois de tous les âges, de toutes les régions et de tous les milieux des opportunités pour découvrir, apprendre et partager la nature les uns avec les autres. Nous voyageons partout au Nouveau-Brunswick, enseignant aux enfants au sujet de la nature dans leurs cours d’école et leurs voisinages, défendant les espèces en péril par nos efforts de sensibilisation locale, et impliquant des bénévoles dans la protection et la surveillance des espèces et des paysages qu’ils aiment.

Basé à notre bureau à Sackville, l’Adjoint(e) à l’intendance travaillera de près avec le Coordinateur de programmesafin d’appuyer nos sympathisants dans des actions visant à célébrer, à conserver et à protéger la nature du Nouveau-Brunswick. Les responsabilités incluront le développement et la présentation de programmes éducatifs sur la conservation, la planification d’évènements de sensibilisation dans la communauté, de l’assistance pour la gestion des bénévoles, la communication avec les organismes partenaires, la rédaction de rapports internes et la participation à des ateliers pertinents. L’adjoint(e) nous aidera ultimement avec la recherche, la gestion et la coordination d’évènements communautaires, les projets de conservation et les programmes éducatifs partout en province. Il/elle travaillera sur une variété de projets reliés aux changements climatiques, à la conservation des oiseaux et aux zones naturelles protégées.

Il s’agit d’une position permanente à temps plein, de niveau d’entrée avec des opportunités de formation et de développement au sein du rôle.

RESPONSABILITÉS ET TÂCHES:

L’adjoint(e) à l’intendance travaillera de près avec le Coordinateur de programmes et assistera avec les tâches suivantes :
• Garder les sympathisants nouveaux et existants informés au sujet des opportunités courantes pour s’impliquer avec notre travail
• Le développement et la présentation de programmes de science citoyenne et de conservation pour les jeunes et les adultes
• La planification d’évènements et d’activités afin d’engager nos sympathisants, gérer la logistique pour les évènements et promouvoir les évènements auprès du public
• Gestion de bénévoles
• Communication et collaboration avec nos organismes partenaires et nos bénévoles partout en province
• Recherche, analyse de données et préparation de rapports internes pour Nature NB
• La participation à des formations et des ateliers pertinents liés au poste afin d’augmenter ses connaissances personnelles et professionnelles

QUALIFICATIONS, COMPÉTENCES, EXPÉRIENCE:

Le/la candidat(e) retenu(e) aura une combinaison des compétences suivantes, acquises au cours d’un diplôme universitaire et/ou d’expérience de travail pertinente :
• Baccalauréat en sciences naturelles (ex., biologie, sciences environnementales, études environnementales, foresterie, etc.) OU en éducation
• Compétences de communication excellentes
• Expérience en planification d’évènements et/ou la gestion de logistiques
• Expérience en développement de programmes
• Capacité à facilement prioriser des tâches et à gérer multiples dates limites
• Fortes compétences en organisation et en gestion du temps; attention aux détails
• Expérience ou intérêt en engagement communautaire et en sensibilisation du public
• Expérience avec les SIG
• Intérêt pour la nature, la conservation, l’adaptation aux changements climatiques et le plaidoyer
• Compétences de travail en anglais et en français
• La possession d’un permis de conduire valide est un atout
• De l’expérience de travail avec les enfants est un atout
• De l’expérience de travail dans un milieu à but non lucratif est un atout

SALAIRE HORAIRE:

16$/heure, 40 heures par semaine
