[sust-mar] Registration open for 2019 Nova Scotia Celebration of Nature at Liscombe Lodge

The annual Nova Scotia Celebration of Nature is being held this year on 
Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore, at the Liscombe Lodge, from Friday, May 24, 
to Sunday, May 26. *Registration for the weekend is now open. *You can 
find detailed information about registration, meal plans, and how to

registration is *May 3*.


The morning *ADULT PROGRAMMING* has three interesting guest speakers 
including:

  * */"How a small project makes a big difference: the evolution of
    Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project"/ *Gary Schneider,
    director Macphail Woods
  * */"Marketing nature and the rise of citizen scientists" /*Dave
    Ireland, former Managing Director of The ROM
  * */"Lichens in Nova Scotia: diversity, conservation, and current
    research" /*Sean Haughian, curator of botany, NS Museum of Natural
    History

The**morning *YOUTH PROGRAM *has some special guests including Gary 
Schneider from Macphail Woods and Sean Haughain from the Museum of 
Nature who will lead activities about lichen and native plants. We will 
also do lots of nature games and activities, crafts and a guided boat 
ride down the St. Mary's River!

*COMBINED YOUTH AND ADULT FIELD TRIPS *in the afternoons include:

  * */Fascinating Floodplain Forests/, St Marys River NSNT property*—led
    by Karen McKendry, wilderness outreach coordinator, EAC
  * */Drawing in Nature/, an outdoor sketching workshop (at Liscombe
    Lodge)*—with Alice Reed, artist
  * */Coastal Barrens Hike/*—led by David Patriquin, Wild Flora Society
  * */Mayflower Trail/*—Rick Ballard, Halifax Field Naturalists
  * */Otter Ponds Demo Forest tour: ecologically healthy forest
    practices/*—leader TBA
  * */Natural History of Taylor Head Provincial Park/*—led by Peter
    Oickle, Friends of Taylor Head Park
  * */Birding at Taylor Head Provincial Park/*—led by Jim Cameron,
    Friends of Taylor Head Park
  * */Wildlife Rehabilitation Walk, Pomquet/*—led by Bob Bancroft
  * /*Self guided opportunities:*/ trails in Liscombe area,
    canoeing/kayaking, St Marys River
