Position: Renewable Energy Project Coordinator
Type: 1 year contract / paid internship
Eligibility: 30 years or younger (see below)
Organization: Clean Annapolis River Project
Location: Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia

Anticipated Start Date: May 1st, 2019 
End Date: March 31st, 2020

Remuneration: $16.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay and statutory benefits at 35 hours per week.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have completed a post-secondary program such as the Nova Scotia Community College Energy Sustainability Engineering Technology (ESET) program or have similar education or experience in energy systems management, sustainable design, green technology, and alternative energy systems.

Additional Eligibility Requirements: 

This position is funded, in part, by the EcoCanada Internship program and the successful candidate must meet the following eligibility requirements:
• A Canadian post-secondary graduate
• 30 years or younger at the start date of the position
• Must not have participated in any other Youth Employment Strategy programs (e.g. Career Focus)
• A Canadian citizen or permanent resident

Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Solar Energy Project Coordinator works under the direction of the Executive Director in a supportive and cooperative team environment. The Solar Energy Project Coordinator will be expected to complete duties directly related to CARP day to day activities in order to fulfill to project goals to develop the local knowledge and capacity required to pursue the use of renewable energy technology and support clean growth initiatives.

Specific tasks can include:

The intern will be responsible for:
• Delivery of educational programming about renewable energy technology to youth, homeowners, and the business community;
• Development of curriculum-linked renewable energy learning kits and educational modules and deliver them to classrooms and youth organizations and provide teacher training on the use of the learning kits;
• Addressing barriers and facilitate the uptake of solar energy systems in the region through the creation of a demonstration project and accompanying educational and interpretive resources;
• Facilitating the installation of a photovoltaic (PV) energy demonstration project at the Annapolis Innovation Centre and develop the educational and interpretive resources to support the PV demonstration project as well as deliver educational seminars and events to increase education and awareness of PV energy and the demonstration project;
• Facilitating collaboration and networking among members of the public and businesses/organizations that support climate change adaption and mitigation actions by facilitating a regional Climate Action Fair.
