Position: Project Coordinator
Organization: Community Forests International
Location: Sackville, near Moncton, New Brunswick
Term: one year full-time (see below)
Eligibility: ages 18 - 30 (see below)

Community Forests International leads climate change adaptation and mitigation by empowering rural communities to thrive with nature. Since 2011, we have protected over 1,200 acres of endangered forest in the Canadian Maritimes and, internationally, improved livelihood and ecological outcomes for 40,000 beneficiaries in the vulnerable region of Zanzibar, Tanzania. The organization has worked alongside dozens of communities to plant over 3 million trees; innovate climate-smart farming and green building technologies; construct renewable energy and rainwater harvesting infrastructure; and set in motion much needed carbon storage ventures that leverage the vitality of natural forests.

The Opportunity

The Program Coordinator will work with a deeply collaborative team to grow the impact of Community Forests International’s forest conservation and restoration projects. We are currently expanding our Acadian Forest Program—including our carbon offsets initiative—as a way to both mitigate climate change and support forest-dependent communities; the Program Coordinator will assist with these scale-up efforts, working closely with other staff to secure funding, steward project partnerships, and deliver key projects and activities. This position will involve a high degree of on-the-job training in the emerging field of ecosystem service valuation. We are looking for someone who is curious, eager, and adaptable. This is a 1-year full-time position with opportunity for extension; due to funding requirements, the successful applicant must be between the ages of 18 and 30 (see below for additional employment conditions).

Key Responsibilities:
• Under the supervision of the Program Director, identify forest conservation and restoration opportunities;
• Work in collaboration with other team members to expand the organization’s forest carbon offsets program and forest regeneration program;
• Represent the organization’s forest conservation and restoration initiatives at public events, such as conferences and trade-shows;
• Steward relationships with existing external partners;
• Ensure timely project reporting to external partners.

This position can be tailored to the successful candidate’s unique skillset and interests; however, we are looking for someone with some of the following skills or experience:

Desired Skills & Experience
• Post-secondary degree or training in forestry, environmental sciences, business, marketing, public relations or related field considered an asset.

• Strong computer skills, including experience with MS Office, Dropbox, Adobe Creative Suite, Wordpress, CRMs and social media.
• Experience managing a sales or donor pipeline using a CRM would be considered an asset.
• Experience with ArcGIS would be considered an asset
