• Final competition: September 18, 2020

Atlantic Water Network (AWN) is a Saint Mary’s University organization that provides free resources and services with the goal of building capacity for community-based water monitoring organizations across Atlantic Canada. AWN hosts a number of initiatives across the Atlantic Provinces such as a free Equipment Bank with state-of-the-art water monitoring equipment, in-person and online training via WET-pro certification, workshops on data management and analysis, and a partnership with Atlantic DataStream, an open-access water quality data hub. As Atlantic Canada's only network with a region-wide freshwater mandate, AWN is delighted to host the AquaHacking Challenge for Atlantic Canada in 2020.

The AquaHacking Challenge is the flagship program of Aqua Forum, a Montreal-based non-profit organization. The AquaHacking Challenge focused on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River Basin when it was launched in 2015. Since then, the AquaHacking Challenge has helped establish 17 youth-led water tech start-ups, create 30 jobs in the water sector, and made over 1,500 tech savvy youth more water-aware. In 2020, the AquaHacking Challenge is being delivered in 3 watersheds across Canada in partnership with three local host organizations: Okanagan Basin Water Board (Kelowna, B.C.), International Institute of Sustainable Development (Winnipeg, M.B.), and Atlantic Water Network (Halifax, N.S.).
